With over 20,000 members across 370 branches in the UK and overseas, we are a family of current and former Naval Service personnel, relatives and supporters of our country's Royal Navy.
Whether we are catching up with friends at our regular social events; fundraising; advising on welfare and employment matters, or just providing an arm around the shoulder, our natural willingness to help others stems from the tradition and camaraderie that only Naval Service life can instil. Everything we do is inextricably linked to our core values:
|Association||Royal Naval Association|
|Address||Frome Rugby Club
|Meetings||We meet on the third Thursday of every month.|
|Additional||The Frome branch of the Royal Naval Association is over 60 years old and in the past 2 years has managed to increase it's membership against the current trend of declining service associations. Although a fair distance from the sea and naval ports, Frome has supported the Royal Navy. This was demonstrated by it's adoption of HMS/M Thunderbolt, formerly HMS/M Thetis in February 1942. It is the branch's intention to celebrate the 70th anniversary of this event in 2012. During the last 16 years the branch has organised and sponsored the hugely popular annual Royal Marines Band concerts held in the Frome Memorial Theatre. Funds that are raised, by this event and others, help us to donate monies to local and national service charities and allow us to support sponsorship. The Trowbridge based Sea Cadets unit, TS Achilles, has been sponsored for many years by the branch and received a cheque for £1000 in 2010 towards their purchase of a pair of pulling boats for training. Many of the members are also very active in Frome's community and charity organisations from the Frome Memorial Theatre to Frome Hospital, Dr Barnardo's and sheltered accommodation. The branch has a varied programme throughout the year chosen and organised by the whole membership. Please take a look at the 2011 programme on the website to give you some idea of the diversity, you are invited to come along to a branch night and meet us. Venue for our meetings is the Frome Rugby Club, Gypsy Lane and commences at 7.30pm on the 3rd Thursday of each month followed by "Up Spirits" and tea or coffee.|
